Improving productivity and increasing overall satisfaction in operations
Based in Europe, the client is an internationally acting Industrial Goods company. Comparing some key operational indicators with competitors, the client saw the opportunity to boost operations, but needed support in identifying sustainable and specifically production related improvement options.
Assessed by lean and operations experts with knowledge in the specific sector, we firstly assessed the plant with clear performance criteria to evaluate operational processes, practices and standards, also taking into account business requirements and organizational structure for performance management, related to best practices of each criterion. Having set up a clear picture of every plant and area, workshops were organized to identify improvement measures, providing an open communication channel between management and operational staff and confirming the most practicable and sustainable measures to improve production flow, enhance productivity and eliminate waste.
A big variety of initiatives were identified, many of them could be implemented ad-hoc, some of them simple but very effective and “eye-opening”, such as moving the location of specific equipments to optimize the production flow, designing a flexible tool base to shorten set-up times, or organizing monthly breakfasts to share best practices between areas. Staffs from all hierarchy levels were highly satisfied with the implementation of the feasible and efficient solutions.
